stroke prevention in terms of blood pressure, diabetes, and lifestyle

We often think of stroke prevention in terms of blood pressure, diabetes, and lifestyle.
But what about the air we breathe?
Our article in the IWSA Newsletter examines the important and often overlooked connection between air pollution and stroke, and the need to bring environmental health into the conversation on brain health and stroke prevention.
Clean air is not a luxury. It is prevention.

first Global Outreach Externship sponsored by the Department of Neurology-23-08-2026

I am deeply honoured to have been the mentee in the first Global Outreach Externship sponsored by the Department of Neurology through the Narayan Verma, MD Endowed Scholarship for second-year medical student Connor McGinnis through the inaugural Global Outreach Externship.
Being featured in the American Academy of Pediatrics newsletter makes this experience even more special.
What makes me particularly proud is experiencing the power of mentorship across borders—learning, sharing perspectives, and building relationships beyond geography.
Mentorship is not just about teaching; it is about opening doors, nurturing confidence, sharing experiences, and helping the next generation see new possibilities.
Wishing you the very best Connor McGinnis for your future. May you continue to learn, grow, and inspire others along the way.
I am grateful to the Department of Neurology at Wayne State University, Michigan; the Narayan Verma, MD Endowed Scholarship; Dr Sunil Jaiman; and everyone who made this pioneering global outreach opportunity possible.
Proud to have been a mentee—and even more inspired to continue mentoring others.

275 Camps-16-08-2026

275 Camps. A decade of journeys. ❤️
Today, we completed our 275th camp.
The true milestone is not the number of camps, but the countless individuals with stroke and epilepsy who have journeyed with us over the years and rebuilt their lives with courage and hope.
My heartfelt gratitude to my parents for their unwavering support, my wonderful team for making this journey possible, and every patient and caregiver who trusted us and walked alongside us.
275 camps, countless lives, one continuing journey. ❤️
